Frequently Asked Questions
To submit a question for consideration to FAQ, email kjbrown@udel.edu.
Not all questions will become FAQs, but may help make the training better.
Accessing the System
- How/where do I log on to this new system: UDSIS?
-
- Faculty and staff logon to the UDSIS website at this location: www.udel.edu/udsis. Internet Explorer is the preferred browser, although Mozilla and Firefox work also. You use your UdelNet ID and password to logon. If you do not use your UDelNet ID for email, you may have to activate your UDelNet ID and set your password at www.udel.edu/network before logging in the first time.
- Students logon with the UDSIS link at the top of UD's homepage. Students also use their UdelNet IDs and passwords to logon to UDSIS.
Display of information
- Are term identifiers be the same?
- No, the term identifiers are now 4-digit numbers. The new naming convention at UD is wxyz, where:
w = millennium (1 for 19xy and 2 for 20xy)
xy = last two digits of calendar year
z = 1 for Winter, 3 for Spring, 5 for Summer and 8 for Fall
For example Fall 2007 = 2078 (Listed as Fall 2007 as an option on drop/down menus also)
- Are course IDs the same?
- Yes.
- How does a deceased student appear in UDSIS?
- The word DECEASED displays in bold, black letters to the right of the student's ID Number in every page where student information is accessed.
Security
- How do I request security access to UDSIS?
- For Student Records access, complete the webform at www.udel.edu/registrar and go to the option of Faculty/Staff: Request for UDSIS Student Records access
- Will I be able to be in UDSIS all day long or will it time me out after a certain amount of time?
- You will be timed-out of UDSIS after 90 minutes of non-activity for security reasons.
Student Information
- Are SSNs still being used?
- SSNs are no longer used as student IDs. The UDSIS Student ID is a 9-digit number assigned by the system that begins with a 7. (Note: Some students and most faculty members will have a 5-digit ID number based on their current HR Employee IDs.)
- How are students notified of their Student IDs (both matriculated and CE)?
-
- Current grad students on stipend and undergrads paid in the payroll system will use their 5-digit Employee IDs as their Student IDs. (This Employee ID can be found on their pay stubs.)
- Newly admitted undergraduate and graduate students are notified of their assigned Student ID upon admission.
- Current students are assigned a 9-digit Student ID and can look it up by going into UDSIS (at the top of the home page) and logging in with their UdelNet ID and password. NOTE: The new Student IDs will not be used for authentication purposes (as the SSN had been in SIS+); instead students will use their UdelNet ID and password
- Is personal information such as SSN and Date of Birth displayed in UDSIS?
- SSNs are stored in UDSIS and are hidden from display except the last four digits for most people accessing the system. Staff requiring access to SSNs to perform their jobs will continue to have access. This includes federal financial aid reporting and federal tax reporting. Access will be determined on a 'need to know' basis.
Date of Birth will be displayed in UDSIS to help people distinguish between or among students with the same name.
Training
- When will I receive training?
