Summary of 1/30/02 G/L Team Meeting

Task:        Determine if the PS Allocation Process can be used to process UD monthly

                 fringe benefits.

 

Issues:       How will Transfers/Allocations be handled in PS?

 

Ben began the meeting with the following information discussed at the Executive Team meeting.  The Executive Committee reported that a decision was made that the implementation of PS GL will not be prolonged because of the PS HR upgrade.  We will have the availability of the needed resources and UD IT Programmer support for the March 31 release of PS version 8.4.  The university will get the software sometime in April.  PS 8.4 will be installed in an oracle data base.  PS consultants will come in to load the General Ledger set up process.

 

The PS Chart of Accounts Committee will be visiting Princeton University on February 7th to discuss various topics regarding PS.  The G/L team members were asked to forward any questions they might have involving the PS G/L module.   There is a new PS team for Communications with Peggy Bottorff as the leader.  This team will be responsible for training the University Community.  A person from each module team will be asked to participate as a member on this team.  Eileen Prazniak will represent the General Accounting Department on the Communication Team. 

 

After investigating the subject of “Reports” in People Books, Ben contacted Marsha Lockard, leader of the PS Reporting Team, for any information the Report team may have found regarding “PS Trial Balance”.  Marsha directed Ben to some testing that the Report team completed.  Ben demonstrated the navigation process to access this information in PS SUV and printed the information.  After examining the printed PS Trial Balance example, Ben decided that this was not a comparable report to UD Trial Balance.  As an assignment for our next team meeting, Ben requested the G/L team to research PS “Balance Sheet” in People Books to see if this could be comparable to the UD Trial Balance.

 

On February 13th the G/L Team is scheduled for the regular weekly meeting, however, General Accounting has scheduled the same day for File Retention.  We need to discuss changing our meeting to Tuesday, February 12th.

 

Our next scheduled meeting is on February 5th.
