Dynamic Detail Trees and Ranges

What are they and why don’t we use them? In the Dynamic Detail Tree, you tell the system to dynamically determine appropriate values at the time it uses the tree, based on PeopleSoft defined relationships. E.g. segments, phases and activities are linked to specific project chartfields at the time they are set up; security relative to users roles and permission lists. This does not have any applicability to Dept chartfield as there is no defined relationship associated with department chartfield, therefore we don’t believe it will have widespread usage at UD.

When using Dynamic Detail Trees, all nodes relating to the tree must be dynamic. Dynamic ranges should only be used in Dynamic Detail Trees. If you use dynamic ranges in your trees you may encounter problems. Know thy data!
