Lisa Murray

 

Lisa Murray is an Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Octagon Worldwide Group. Ms. Murray spoke to UD students and faculty in the fall of 2008. Lisa is one of the leading sport marketers in the field. She has been recognized by both Street and Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and The Sporting News as one of the leading female sport marketers. Lisa has implemented integrated event marketing strategies for companies such as MasterCard and Sprint. The sport platforms she has been involved with include The Olympic Games, FIFA's Soccer World Cup, and NASCAR LIsa is also a proud graduate of the University of Delaware.

 

 

 


 

Myles Brand


Dr. Brand is the President of National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and spoke to UD students and faculty during the fall 2005 semester. Dr. Brand’s speech, was titled, “College Sports as a Catalyst for Change”, it explored the impact of intercollegiate athletics on social and academic issues. UD’s Sport Management Program sponsored the lecture with funding by the General Education Initiative, the Center for Teaching Effectiveness, the Delaware Interdisciplinary Ethics Program and Informational Technology User Services. As a result of Dr. Brand's visit, the Sport Management program created an award in his honor.



Wayne Edwards

Dr. Edwards spoke to the fall 2006 graduate sport finance class at UD. Dr. Edwards had a long career in collegiate sports administration. His last position was the Director of Athletics at Towson University. In addition to his work in college athletics, Dr. Edwards has also been involved with the USA Team Handball National Governing Body and sport economic development in the Baltimore area.




Hank Steinbrecher

Mr. Steinbrecher, the secretary general and executive director of the U.S. Soccer Federation from 1990-2001 spoke to UD students during the spring 2007 semester. Mr. Steinbrecher is the secretary general emeritus of the United States Soccer Federation, a former executive with Gatorade is currently the president of Touchline Consulting. The focus of Mr. Steinbrecher's talk was "the Globalization of Sport; The World May be Flat, but the World is Round." The event was sponsored by the Center for International Studies, the Lerner College of Business and Economics, the master of business administration program and the sport management major.

 

 

Raymond

Mr. Raymond is the CEO of the Raymond Entertainment Group, a leading characting branding organization specializing in mascot development. A UD alumni, Mr. Raymond is the original Philly Phanatic and has been kind enough to make several speaking appearances to the Sport Management students over the last couple of years.

 


 

Peter Johnson

Mr. Johnson was the Chief Operating Officer of IMG, spoke to UD students during the fall 2006 semester. IMG is one of the largest and most respected sports and lifestyle marketing and management firms in the world. A graduate of UD himself , Mr. Johson has been the personal manager for three National Football League Most Valuable Players, including fellow UD alumnus Rich Gannon during his 30 year career with IMG. Mr. Johnson also played in the National Football League for the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills.
