Valuable Property The Crime Prevention Unit is using Operation Identification to help solve this problem. The property owner completes a Operation Identification registration form with specific information about the property and forwards it to Public Safety where the information is kept on file. A decal will be assigned to each piece of property (you must stop at the Public Safety office to pick up the decal). If the property is reported stolen the police will have the needed information to enter it into a nationwide computerized network. When the property is recovered, the recovering police agency will be able to access the owner's information via computer. When engraving an item - DO NOT use your social security number or other personal information. Think of something that will have meaning only to you. If you do not have access to an engraver, the Department of Public Safety will loan you one. The University Police recommend that you register all valuable equipment (computers, stereos, televisions, etc.). Bicycles should also be registered, however, please see the separate Bicycle registration form. There is no fee for this service. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please email Public Safety.
