Color-Coded Parking Lots
The color codes and numbers of University parking lots are specified on the campus parking map. If a different color-coded sign is posted in the lot, the sign takes precedence. The absence of a color-coded sign at a particular location will not be accepted as an excuse for the unauthorized parking of a registered vehicle. Lots 4C, 14C, 41, and 17C are pay-to-park lots and are not governed by the color code system.

Parking of registered vehicles is restricted by specific color-coded areas from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; lot 7, the conference center lot adjacent to Clayton Hall, is restricted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. At all other times, red permit holders can park in all lots except lots #11, 12, 16, 21, 24, 61, 84, and 114 which are restricted at all times. Handicap spaces are reserved at all times. Reserved spaces and service vehicle spaces are restricted 7 am - 5 pm unless otherwise posted (see under Reserved Spaces heading). During University recess periods and summer sessions, when daytime shuttle buses are not in service, red permit holders may purchase gold parking privileges.

Resident students are not included in the color-coded system and must park their vehicles in designated lots between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. At other times, resident permits are valid in all University lots except reserved spaces, restricted lots, "R" lots, pay-to-park facilities and gated lots 20 and 21, and lot 7 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. In addition, the athletic complex lots 1 and 88 may be closed to resident student parking when special events are scheduled.

Gate-Controlled Parking Areas
Access to gate-controlled lots is restricted to authorized permit holders during specified hours. Unregistered and/or unauthorized vehicles parking in any gate-controlled lot without the permission of the Department of Public Safety will be considered in violation of a reserved parking space.

During posted evening and weekend hours, gated Lots #37, 34, & 53 may be used by persons who are registered for any Red, Blue, Gold, Resident Student, Carpool, or Reserved parking permits. Access is gained by contacting Parking Services to activate your University ID card.

Handicapped Parking
Handicapped parking spaces have been designated in all major lots. They are located as conveniently as possible to accessible building entrances and are identified by appropriate signs. Parking in the accessway to a handicapped space is prohibited and is subject to a fine. Lots which contain handicap parking spaces are denoted on the parking map.

Use of handicapped spaces is restricted to vehicles occupied by persons who are handicapped and which bear an authorized Handicapped Permit (from the State of Delaware or another state) or bear a handicapped license plate. A valid University of Delaware permit for the lot in which the handicapped space is located is also required. Commuting students with authorized disabilities are eligible to register for a Gold permit regardless of their completed credit hours or off-campus address. Users of handicapped spaces located in the campus pay-to-park lots must pay the appropriate hourly or daily fees.

Reserved Spaces
Reserved spaces paid for by faculty/staff members are designated by number. These spaces can be located within color-coded lots. Reserved Space permit holders, however, may not use regular color-coded spaces in the same lot or an adjacent lot to which they are assigned, except as directed by Public Safety personnel.

University Service Vehicle reserved spaces are for use by authorized vehicles including those displaying a Service Vehicle permit. Service Vehicle permits are valid only when accompanied by a Gold, Gate, or Reserved space permit.

University Vehicle Only reserved spaces are for university-owned vehicles only. Service Vehicle passes are not valid for parking in these spaces.

All Reserved, University Service Vehicle, and Universiy Vehicles Only spaces are reserved from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise indicated on the reserved space sign.

Parking spaces on the grounds of the Blue and Gold Club (44 Kent Way) are reserved for Club staff and members who are using Club facilities.

The Marriott Courtyard UD parking area is reserved for use by hotel guests only, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
