Brief Biography

 

Theodore J. Davis, Jr., (Ph. D. Florida State University) is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware.  He has a joint appointment in the Black American Studies Department. His research and teaching activities survey the issues associated with politics and human development. He regularly teaches courses in public policy, urban politics, race and politics, and the politics of poverty.  He occasionally teaches courses in public administration and research methods.   Dr. Davis current research focus includes: 1) black politics in post-civil rights America, 2) asset-based community development in inner city communities, 3) the educational and social mobility gaps, and 4) capacity building and poverty reduction in Sub-Saharan Africa.  He is the author of the book Black Politics Today: The Era of Socioeconomic Transition (Routledge 2012).  Dr. Davis has engaged in a variety of service activities that have contributed to the service missions of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the University of Delaware, and the broader community.
