Philosophy & Pop Culture: From Socrates to South Park

The Philosophy Department is hosting a taping of the nationally syndicated weekly radio show, Philosophy Talk - 'the program that questions everything... except your intelligence'. Regular hosts Ken Taylor and John Perry of Stanford University will discuss philosophy and pop culture with UD professor Richard Hanley, author of South Park and Philosophy, and The Metaphysics of Star Trek.

Ken Taylor: Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at Stanford University. Working at the intersection of the philosophy of language and the philosophy of mind, with an occasional foray into the history of philosophy. Author of many books and articles, including Truth and Meaning; Reference and the Rational Mind; Referring to the World. John Perry: Henry Waldgrave Stuart Professor of Philosophy at Stanford. Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Recipient of many honors including the Nicod and Humboldt Prizes, and the Dinkelspiel Award for undergraduate teaching. Author of over 100 articles and books, including A Dialogue on Personal Identity, and Immortality; Knowledge, Possibility, and Consciousness; Reference and Reflexivity.
Richard Hanley: Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Delaware. Author of The Metaphysics of Star Trek and South Park and Philosophy: Bigger, Longer, and More Penetrating. Co-editor of The Blackwell Guide to Philosophy of Language. Author of philosophical articles on The Matrix, The Twilight Zone, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Memento, Battlestar Galactica, and Stephen Colbert. He has a great face for radio.
