Contributions to the General Education Curriculum
-
Satisfies College of Arts & Science Group Arequirement.
Group A courses are intended to provide students with a better understanding
and appreciation of the creative arts and humanities, including arts, literature,
and philosophy, and the cultural values which have shaped them. The goal
is to insure that every course which satisfies this requirement represents
an introduction to the arts and/or humanities as well as an introduction
to a specific subject matter. In addition, the subject matter must provide
a reasonable introduction to the discipline as representative of the arts
and humanities.
-
Satisfies University's Multicultural requirement.
This is because the course offers a broad perspective on basic values in
a number of different cultures and from a number of different points of
view. The result is an enhanced understanding of or appreciation for other
cultures.
