"Well behaved women rarely make history." Dr. Milner is a Post-Doctoral Fellow for Dr. Davis and is primarily responsible for coordination of a dual-site prospective research project investigating running injuries and the etiology and identification of biomechanical factors involved in the development of tibial stress fractures in competitive female runners. Doctoral Students
email: rbutler@udel.edu
"Not everything that
can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." ~Albert
Einstein~
Rob is a 3rd year Doctoral Student under the mentorship of Dr. Davis and is primarily responsible for overseeing data collection for a research project evaluating the effect of wedged orthoses on pain, function, and gait mechanics in subject with knee osteoarthritis. Rob is also completing a manuscript on gender differences in joint stiffness. Rob will soon begin work on his Dissertation involving fatigue and shoe structure on running mechanics. Education
Interests
Future Plans Conduct research and develop athletic footwear in an industry setting or teaching and research in biomechanics in a University setting. Download Rob's VITAE
email: tdierks@udel.edu "No matter how hard you work, there is always time to goof-off." ~T. Money original~ Tracy is a 3rd year Doctoral Student under the mentorship of Dr. Davis and is primarily responsible for aiding in the research project investigating running injuries and the etiology and identification of biomechanical factors involved in the development of tibial stress fractures in competitive female runners. Tracy has recently completed a manuscript investigating joint coupling, which has led to current work investigating abnormal joint coupling. Tracy has also begun pilot work on is dissertation, which will investigate running kinematics and joint coupling over a prolonged run in a group with patellofemoral pain and in an uninjured group. Education
Interests
Future Plans Attain a position as an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in a University setting where I would be able to conduct biomechanical research and teach graduate and undergraduate classes related to biomechanics. One or two graduate assistants would be nice as well. Download Tracy's VITAE
"I'm gonna help this lab do a complete 360." ~J. Dub original~ John is a 1st year doctoral student under the mentorship of Dr. Davis. John began the doctoral program in 2003 after five years of experience as a physical therapist at Upland Hills Health in Wisconsin and Joyner Sportsmedicine in Kentucky. John’s recent work includes analysis of the relationship between core stability and lower extremity injury in athletes, hip strength in females with and without patellofemoral pain, and comparison of outcomes between males and females following ACL reconstruction. Education
Interests
Future Plans Attain a position in a University setting where I would be able to conduct biomechanical research, teach aspiring therapy students, and continue some degree of clinical practice. Download John's VITAE
email: beckyaz@udel.edu "I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." ~Thomas Jefferson~ Becky is a 1st year doctoral student under the mentorship of Dr. Davis. She is currently investigating structural differences between genders, focusing upon the pelvis and the arch of the foot. She is also interested in the mechanisms leading to running injuries, particularly in females. Education
Interests
Future Plans To attain a position as an assistant professor at a university that focuses primarily upon teaching, yet encourages the faculty to conduct research as well. Download Becky's VITAE
Undergraduates
email: esmika16@aol.com “The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success” “A faithful friend is the medicine of life” (Apocrypha 6:16) Emily recently obtained a degree in Health and Exercise Science. She currently works in the lab as a research assistant while she applies to Medical School. She hopes to attend Medical School in the Fall of 2004 with interests in Orthopedics. Education
Interests
Future Plans I hope to attend medical school in the Fall of 2004. I also plan to apply for a scholarship program through the United States Air Force officer training program. I hope to one day practice Orthopedic medicine and conduct arthritis research on both Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Download Emily's VITAE
