There are 4 full-time clinical internships (3 credits each) and 3 part-time integrated clinical experiences (1-3 credits each) interspersed among the full-time academic DPT program.
Second Year (DPT II)
Summer Session II, 6 week internship (3 credits)
Acute care hospital setting or Outpatient
Third Year (DPT III)
Summer Session I, 6 week internship (3 credits)
Outpatient or Acute Care Hospital Setting
Fall Semester, Two 8 week internships (6 credits total)
post primary care / rehabilitation internship
elective internship (the student can choose the type of experience)
The 3 integrated experiences will consist of an orthopedic experience, a geriatric/neurologic experience and a pediatric experience. The orthopedic and geriatric/neurologic experiences will be part-time, semester long experiences. The pediatric experience will be shorter in length and will take place during the winter session or Spring semester of year II. Special clinical education opportunities for our DPT students are offered in the UD PT clinics.
