Jan 8, 2009. The Department of Physical Therapy was recently recognized by the University of Delaware’s Office of Educational Assessment for the faculty's exemplary efforts in assessing student learning outcomes. This public recognition and presentation of an honorary plaque took place during a luncheon at the Winter Faculty Institute on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. The theme of the awards presentation at the lunch was "Celebrating Assessment". Stacie Larkin, PT, DPT, MEd, DCE serves as the department’s Faculty Assessment Fellow and has facilitated assessment activities geared towards improvement of student learning throughout the past two years. According to the Office of Educational Assessment, “The Assessment Faculty Fellows program, created and initiated by the Office of Educational Assessment, is designed to create, maintain and support a university-wide cadre of faculty with a deep commitment to outcomes assessment. Working closely with Chairs and department faculty, Assessment Faculty Fellows are responsible for coordinating, supporting and maintaining student learning outcomes assessment processes in their respective academic units, as well as sharing knowledge with colleagues across the university. Specific responsibilities also include meeting monthly as a group to share progress and discuss successes and challenges; attending special workshops and training sessions specifically designed for Assessment Faculty Fellows; and working closely with, and
submitting progress reports to, the Office of Educational Assessment.” Congratulations to UDPT for continuing to promote excellence in both students and faculty!
