Significant events and accomplishments:

• The new Center for Corporate Governance and the new Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair of Corporate Governance position were established. Charles Elson, a noted expert in corporate governance, began serving as the first Woolard Chair in August 2000.

• The college developed an Information Technology Initiative, which provides needed education and training in business and information technology to students who will help meet the needs of Delaware’s work force.

• The Chaplin Tyler Executive Leadership Speaker Series was established.

• Eight named professorships were established: four Chaplin Tyler Professors, the Dana J. Johnson Professorship, the MBNA America Professor of Business, the Arthur Andersen Alumni Professor of Accounting and the Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair of Corporate Governance.

• The college created a Corporate Mentoring Program.

• The Corporate Associates Program for full-time MBA students was developed.

• The college moved into its beautiful and functional MBNA America Hall. Thank you to the people of MBNA.

• A $5 million endowment was received from MBNA, as part of the Campaign for Delaware.
