Recommended for ages 5 and up. Enchantment Theatre Company September 23, 2007 2:00PM Thompson Theatre Roselle Center for the Arts

Catch-22 Aquila Theater Company September 30, 2007 2:00PM Thompson Theatre Roselle Center for the Arts

An ensemble of British and American artists dedicated to classical drama, Aquila Theatre Company is the foremost producer of touring classical theatre in the United States. Their dynamic and hilarious new production of Joseph Heller’s own stage adaptation of his classic novel, Catch-22, explores the important and timely questions of the absurdity of war and its impact on American society. Perhaps due to the huge popularity of Mike Nichols’ film version, Heller’s own script received only one small production in 1971. Aquila’s Catch-22 will be the first-ever professional production of the play to tour nationally. “Unmistakable fun …” (Los Angeles Times)

Please join us at 1:00PM for a pre-show conversation.

The oldest contemporary dance troupe in America, and named “one of the seven wonders of the artistic universe” by the Washington Post, this company keeps Graham’s timeless choreography alive. Before her death in 1991 at the age of 97, Graham choreographed almost 200 works, developing a dance technique that has been compared to ballet in its scope and magnitude. This performance is especially suited to the intimate setting of the Thompson Theatre — don’t miss the opportunity to see the gifts of this legendary choreographer come alive in Newark!

Please join the dancers for a post-show conversation.

Susie Burke and David Surette have made a name for themselves as one of the finest acts on the lively New England folk scene. Since 1988, they have built a steady following for their own blend of contemporary, traditional, and original acoustic music. Burke's vocal style is at once stunning and heartfelt (“one of the finest, purest voices in folk music today”–Boston Globe), and is matched by Surette's fluid fretwork (“he sets a new standard for traditional instrumentalists”–Sing Out). Together, they bring skill, taste, feeling, and pure enjoyment to their music.

Family Fun with Susie Burke & David Surette
October 28, 2007 2:00PM
Gore Recital Hall Roselle Center for the Arts

Folk duo Susie Burke and David Surette bring their dynamic style to Delaware in a program tailored just for families. Songs with great choruses, fun rounds and sing-a-longs, and a tune or two for moms and dads will make up this special-length performance. Before devoting her energies to music full-time, Burke worked as a day-care teacher; her love of kids is evident in the duo's wonderful, participatory concerts for children.
