Wellness programs offered

Upcoming Employee Wellness Center programs include "Stress Management" on Nov. 18 with Charles Beale, "How to Convince Yourself (Or Someone You Love) to Quit Smoking" on Nov. 20 and "Put Sleeplessness to Rest" on Dec. 1.

Once again, the Employee Wellness Center will offer the holiday "Weigh to Go" program, which challenges employees NOT to gain weight between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Employees are weighed privately during the week of Nov. 23 and then again after the holiday break.

Participants receive support materials in the form of "Survival Packets" that contain information on nutrition, holiday recipes and stress management tools. There are no meetings to attend.

Weigh-ins will be held in Alison Hall, Carpenter Sports Building and the General Services Building. Employees may stop by from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, in the Employee Wellness Center office, Room 112 Carpenter Sports Building; from noon-1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, in Room 130 General Services Building; and from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in Room 121 Alison Hall.

In the past, participants have described Weigh to Go as a "fun program, especially if lots of people from the same department join." If a large group expresses interest, a weigh-in can be held at the office or department location.

The goal of the program is for employees to maintain their pre-holiday weight within a 3-pound range. Employees who succeed will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

All programs cost $10 Wellness Dollars. Interested employees should call 831-8388 for further information or to register. Campus Wellness representatives have been sent a mailing with fliers for these programs.
