Andrienne Jones and Pumpkin, her hamster, pause to celebrate their win at the 4-H Hamster Race, held Oct. 24 at the New Castle County Extension Office in Newark. Nearly two dozen contestants brought their hamsters to participate in a contest down the four-lane, eight-foot track, as they turned exercise balls and aimed for the finish line. Prizes and refreshments were distributed after the event.
