UD ranked 36th in Kiplinger's

The University is ranked 36th out of 100 state schools nationwide that are "great values" in an article, "State Universities to Cheer About," in the September issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine."

The article features rankings based on several criteria. The first was selectivity, which pruned the list to 200 schools. The article pointed out, "It's the schools that are most in demand by strong students, and therefore most able to pick and choose, that tend to offer the best quality overall."

Other considerations were graduation rates, the percentage of freshmen who return for sophomore year, SAT scores and admission rates and computer and library resources. Financial factors that were considered included total cost, affordability to state residents based on per capita income, financial aid, amount of indebtedness students incur and out-of-state tuition.

According to the article, "we were seeking value, not just economy. Our goal is not an inexpensive education but a high-caliber education at the lowest possible cost."
