Computer experts to discuss managing mobility

Issues involved with mobility as users access networks from different sources-from laptop computers to cellular telephones- will be explored at an international conference scheduled Oct. 26-28 in UD's Clayton Hall.

The ninth annual International Federation for Information Processing /Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers international workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management will be hosted by the University and the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.

With the theme "Management of Mobility," the workshop is one of a series designed to bring together people actively working in the distributed systems management area in both academia and industry to foster growth in the field.

This international conference follows eight annual workshops held in cities in Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Australia and the U.S.

According to Adarshpal Sethi, computer and information sciences, who is general and program chairperson of the workshop, topics will range from the management of the Internet, Intranets and the web to telecommunications services management, security issues and management of electronic commerce.

"This is an important professional workshop, and we are honored to host this worldwide meeting, with speakers from Europe, India, Korea and Japan, as well as the United States and Canada, addressing the issues surrounding the management of communication networks," he said.

Paul Amer, computer and information sciences, and Michael Davis, electrical and computer engineering, also serve on the local organizing committee.
