Blue Hen Ice Hockey Club to open season Oct. 16

The UD Blue Hen Hockey Club is gearing up for another winning season. During the 1997-98 season, the team won its third consecutive Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA) playoff championship. The team placed seventh in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) national playoffs, the fifth consecutive time it has placed in the top 10.

During the 1998-99 season, the Blue Hens will host 15 regular season games, including the third annual Blue Hen Thanksgiving Classic, and 16 games against teams in the ACHA top 10.

This year, the Blue Hen Hockey Club also will host the 1999 ECHA playoffs, with games scheduled Feb. 19-21, in the Gold Ice Arena, and the 1999 ACHA National Tournament, March 3-6, in the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Tickets for all UD games can be purchased at the arena the day of the game or in advance at the Bob Carpenter Center of Trabant University Center box offices. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for UD students and children under 12.

• Penn State University, 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, and 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, both Gold Ice Arena;
