Kristen Wing, Diane Zabenko (center) and Tod Petrie are prepared for the return of students.
In order to best serve student demand as the new academic year begins, the University of Delaware Bookstore has increased staff and extended opening hours.
"Normally, we have a total of about 34 employees working in our three sites," Tod Petrie, general manager, explained, "but for the beginning-of-the-year rush, we increase this number threefold. We've also extended our hours to make it easier for students to buy their textbooks before classes begin."
Anticipating the rush before classes start on Tuesday, Aug. 31, the University Bookstore in the Perkins Student Center will be open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, with special Moonlight Madness activities:

Students who make their textbook purchases on-line earn "e-credits," allowing them to apply 5 percent of their on-line purchases toward future on-line purchases.
To access the site directly, go to <www.udel.edu/Bookstore>.
Students have several options when using the web site for purchasing textbooks. They can purchase their textbooks using a credit card, or they can reserve their textbooks and pay for them when they pick them up. In both instances, the books can be picked up in the Perkins Student Center Gallery. While students also may order in advance and have their textbooks delivered, this option is no longer available for fall classes.
To buy or reserve textbooks on-line, buyers need to know course and section numbers. When picking their books up, they must have a confirmation number.
