Free, public tours of the Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes are being offered at 10:30 a.m., Fridays, during June, July and August.
The tours consist of a 20-minute slide presentation on the College of Marine Studies' faculty and their work, followed by a one-hour tour of the college's Cannon and Smith laboratories.
University of Delaware scientists and students are involved in research projects that extend from the conditions of Delaware's inland bays to global climate changes.
Because tours are limited in size, reservations must be made by calling (302) 645-4346 no later than noon, Thursday.
Families are invited, but the tours are not suitable for small children. Prospective students of the college are especially welcome.
Bob Carnahan heads a group of trained, volunteer docents who have led tours since 1992, when the program began. Last year, there were more than 1,500 visitors.
In addition to the Friday morning tours, the college offers prearranged tours for groups of five or more people, junior-high-school age or older, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
These guided tours may be scheduled by calling (302) 645-4346 at least a week in advance.
