Promotions of 47 members of the University of Delaware faculty were approved at the semiannual Board of Trustees meeting, held May 25 in the Trabant University Center. The appointments take effect Sept. 1.
Twenty-four members of the faculty promoted to full professor are
Stuart Binder-MacLeod, physical therapy; Mary Sandra Carberry, computer and information sciences; Douglas Doren; chemistry and biochemistry; John Elias and Guang Gao, both electrical and computer engineering; Jeffry Fuhrmann, plant and soil sciences; John Gillespie Jr., civil and environmental engineering/ materials science and engineering; Scott Jones, accounting and Management Information Services; Ronald Karlson, biological sciences; Calvin Keeler and Limin Kung Jr., both animal and food sciences; Marie Kuczmarksi, nutrition and dietetics; Ajay Kumar Manrai, business administration; Charles MacArthur and Ratna Nandakumar, both education; David Northmore, psychology; Robin Palkovitz, individual and family studies; James Pizzuto, geology; Larry Purnell, nursing; Timothy Targett and Kuo-Chin Wong, both marine studies; Karl Unruh, physics and astronomy; Norman Wagner, chemical engineering; and Anthony Wexler, mechanical engineering.
Promoted to full professor without tenure was Joan Secord Bennett, English.
Nineteen faculty members were promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure: Michael Arnold and Joseph Daniel, both economics; Richard Braun and Renate Scheidler, both mathematical sciences; Stephen Cary, marine biology-biochemistry; P. Andrew Evans, chemistry and biochemistry; Michael Gamel-McCormick, individual and family studies; Stephen Goodwin, health and exercise sciences; Gregory Kane, accounting; Willett Kempton, marine policy; Lawrence Marceau and Nancy Nobile, both foreign languages and literatures; John McDonald, biological sciences; Russell Murray Jr., music; Mark Radosevich and Mark VanGessel, both plant and soil sciences; Christine Reilly, nursing; Daniel Sullivan, business administration; and Xiang-Gen Xia, electrical and computer engineering.
Promoted to the rank of associate professor without tenure was Deborah Allen, biological sciences.
Promoted to assistant professor without tenure were Jo Gielow and Ruth Jackson, both English Language Institute.
