Web team honored for innovative changes to home page

The members of the University Web Media Team, who were responsible for the redesign of the University's home page on the World Wide Web, were honored as the 1999 UD Innovation Award recipients at a Service Awards Dinner on May 19 at Clayton Hall.

According to President David Roselle, the team earned the award for developing an innovative approach to managing the University's web resources that affects the University as a whole.

The award, which was established in 1995, recognizes employees who have been involved in team building and cooperation across campus units, innovative use of technology and effective community outreach.

"We are pleased to be able to recognize the contributions of a number of individuals who have helped assure that we are using the newest web technologies to better serve our students, staff and the general community," Maxine Colm, administration, said, when the recipients were selected.

She further noted that the Innovation Award recognizes projects developed by departmental units and/or work groups that improve institutional effectiveness as well as the quality of life in the workforce and in the larger community.

Members of the winning Web Media Team include John Brennan, public relations; and from Information Technologies, Debbie Durant, Help Center; Keith Heckert, Visual Media Design; Paul Hyde, User Services; Joy Lynam, team leader, Management Information Services; Maria Mullin, Management Information Services; Paul Rickards, Digital Media Services; Lynda Ruggerio; Kathy Troutman, Instructional Media Services; and Kate Webster, User Services.

The award recipients each received a certificate and $250.

Past projects that have received the Innovation Award include the Purchasing Card implementation, the desktop delivery of scholarly information, The Messenger and the new model for Sponsored Programs Administration.
