Recognition reception

Members of Mortar Board honored members of the faculty April 29 at the second annual Mortar Board Faculty Recognition Reception in the Perkins Student Center. Approximately 20 faculty members attended.

Faculty were invited by students, who were asked to select a teacher whose involvement and dedication had affected them during their years at the University. Each student spoke briefly about his or her faculty guest, each of whom received a certificate.

At the event are (from left, back row) James Magee, political science and international relations, and Eric Rise, criminal justice, and student organizers (from left, front row) Donna Marcus, Rachel Steinbach and Courtney Forrester plus Courtney-Amanda Wemple, intercollegiate athletics.

"The event was very satisfying. It gave us a chance to thank faculty members who have influenced our lives," Marcus said. "It also gave us a chance to interact with faculty members outside the classroom environment and to let them know how much they are appreciated. The new members should carry on this tradition next year."
