Now's the time to nominate the year's best students for awards

Nominations are due for outstanding students who will be recognized during the spring semester.

Warner-Taylor awards

Nominations for the 1999 Emalea P. Warner and Alexander J. Taylor Awards for Outstanding Seniors are being sought. The deadline is Thursday, March 18.

The awards recognize an outstanding senior woman and man who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, citizenship and character.

The recipients will receive a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond on Honors Day and will be invited to lead the alumni delegates' procession at the 1999 spring Commencement.

AAUW recognition

The Newark Branch, American Association of University Women (AAUW), is seeking nominations for its annual award to an outstanding senior woman at the University of Delaware who will graduate this May.

Principal criteria include academic achievement and leadership in volunteer service. Candidates must have a minimum index of 3.25.

A $100 award will be presented at Honors Day, May 7. Applications are available in 305 Hullihen Hall. They are due by March 17. The recipient will be notified in April.

George and Margaret Collins Seitz Award

Nominees are being sought for the George and Margaret Collins Seitz Award given annually at Honors Day. The honor is presented to a freshman or sophomore student who has demonstrated unusual traits of fine character.
