Members of the University community are invited to a memorial service to honor the memory of Gerald Straka, to be held at noon, Friday, Feb. 26, in Room 203 Memorial Hall.
Known as Jerry to his friends and colleagues, Dr. Straka came to the University of Delaware as an associate professor of history in 1966. A recipient of the excellence-in-teaching award, he taught English history, concentrating on the early modern period of the Tudor, Stuart and Hanoverian monarchs.
After his retirement in 1992, Dr. Straka returned to his native Milwaukee, where he died of leukemia on Dec. 5.
