|Vol. 18, No. 21||Feb. 25, 1999|
The independent singer/ songwriter Ani DiFranco will bring her mix of folk, punk and rock to the Bob Carpenter Center on April 18. DiFranco's performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $22 for the general public and $20 for UD students. There are only a limited number of seats available at the student price.
DiFranco, who also owns and operates her own record company, Righteous Babe Records, is on tour promoting her latest album, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up. The album, released on Jan. 19, is the prolific artist's 12th release in 10 years.
More keyboards and bass guitars debut on the tracks of her new release, showing how DiFranco's music has grown with each new disc.
In Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, DiFranco tries more personal testimonies, such as the track "Angry Anymore," as well as her trademark social commentaries, as in the song "'Tis of Thee." Sponsored by New Park Entertainment, the concert will feature songs from her latest album, as well as songs from others, such as Little Plastic Castle, her last release, which is still getting rave reviews.
DiFranco's music has been featured on several TV and film soundtracks, including My Best Friend's Wedding, The Jackal, and Party of Five.
