Development vice president resigns

Marion B. Peavey, vice president for development and alumni relations at the University of Delaware since 1996, today announced his resignation.

"I am especially proud of our excellent development staff, the Campaign for Delaware and the good progress made toward its $225 million goal, which was announced in October. However, I now have a new opportunity involving a major institution of special professional and personal interest."

"I expect that organization to be making an announcement in the next few days. Meanwhile, I will be assisting the University in every way possible to assure a smooth succession," Peavey said.

President David P. Roselle said UD is "indebted to Marion Peavey for helping get the Campaign for Delaware under way and off to a fine beginning, while increasing the level of professionalism in the Office of Development.

"All of us at the University wish Marion and Jo well in the future," he said.

"The five-year Campaign for Delaware was recently reported as having raised $105.2 million toward its $225 million goal," Roselle said. In the last two years, gifts rose by 28 percent, from $23.6 million to $30.2 million, and the number of donors rose by 77.3 percent.
