The University of Delaware has become home to the Water Resources Agency, a regional water resources management and planning group.
Since July 1, the cooperative state and local government-sponsored agency has been administered through the Institute for Public Administration in the College of Human Resources, Education and Public Policy.
"We provide technical information, assistance and advisory services on water supply and water quality matter," Bernard Dworsky, project director, said.
"We're currently involved in several regional grant and contract projects in the Delaware River Valley," he said, "in addition to working with sponsoring governments, including the state of Delaware, New Castle County and the cities of Wilmington and Newark."
"The Water Resources Agency provides s natural program fit for the institute and its activities," institute Director Jerome Lewis, said. "They bring staff expertise and experience that complements institute staff and offer additional opportunities for products and services that benefit the people of Delaware."
The Water Resources Agency has also had working relationships for many years with various other campus units, including the Delaware Geological Survey, the Department of Geography and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
"Having the Water Resources Agency in our college brings added opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students to participate in research and public service as well as for collaborative work between the Water Resources Agency and college faculty and staff," Dean Dan Rich said.
The Water Resources Agency is located in the DGS Annex Building off Academy Street.
