Faith, science lecture tonight
Is There Meaning in Evil and Suffering?" That question will be the focus of an interactive Faith and Science Lecture Forum, part of the Truth Lecture Series. A blend of broadcast and interactive technologies, the live satellite forum will be held at 6:45 p.m. tonight, Feb. 11, in Mitchell Hall auditorium. Admission is free.
The forum will feature:
- Ravi Zacharias, a lecturer with the Staley Foundation who has a radio program, Let My People Think. Born in India and a convert to Christianity, he is well-versed in comparative religion, cults and philosophy and has lectured at universities worldwide;
- Bernard Leikind, a plasma physicist known for his work on the physics of fire walking. The editor of Skeptic, he has taught at the University of Maryland and UCLA and has been associated with research organizations;
- Jitendra Mohanty, Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Philosophy and Asian Studies at Emory University and philosophy professor at Temple University, who examines Western philosophy from an Eastern perspective; and
- William Lane Craig, a widely accepted authority on the philosophy of religion, writer and speaker who is currently teaching at Talbot School of Theology.
- Kerby Anderson, a respected political commentator on radio and television and the author of more than 12 books, will serve as moderator of the forum.
After the forum, viewers may e-mail questions to the panelists.
The Department of Philosophy, the Church and Campus Connection and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship are sponsoring the event.
