Annual performance appraisal training sessions scheduled

The annual performance appraisal process will begin in the next several weeks. This process provides supervisors with an opportunity to review the job performance of professionals and salaried staff in their units, while encouraging the active participation of employees in the appraisal process.

A self-appraisal worksheet enables the employee to identify accomplishments, set performance goals and indicate career development interests.

Supervisors are expected to comment, in narrative form, on the individual's job performance and complete 11 performance rating factors.

For those employees whose performance requires special attention, an improvement plan is to be included. Appraisal forms for salaried and professional staff are located under Employee Information on the UD home page.

The appraisal forms will be available to download in WordPerfect (5.0/5.1) for DOS, WordPerfect for Windows and Microsoft Word for Macintosh versions. Employees must enter their Social Security number when completing their forms to insure accuracy. During March, training sessions will be held to familiarize supervisors and employees with the performance evaluation process.

The first session is designed to enhance the evaluation skills of supervisors, as well as to provide an overview of the performance appraisal process. Supervisory workshops will be held from:

The second session will acquaint employees with the major elements of the annual performance appraisal system. Participants will review the steps involved in identifying their major responsibilities and in completing the self-appraisal worksheet.

These workshops are scheduled:
