The Geis Student Research on Women Conference will take place on April 29, with proposals due Monday, March 8, and papers due Monday, April 5.
The goal of the conference is to share research knowledge about women among a wider audience of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and the University community. It provides recognition of student excellence in research.
The conference is open to all students whose topic of research is women or gender-related issues. Previous topics have ranged from the paradoxical battered women syndrome to patriarchy and Shakespeare's heroines. Entries may be critical essays based on library research or reports of findings in social science research. Group-authored projects also are acceptable.
Oral presentations of accepted papers in the undergraduate and graduate divisions will take place April 29, and the president's award of $150 will be given in each division.
Entry rules are available from the women's studies office, Room 333, Smith Hall, and the Office of Women's Affairs, Room 305, Hullihen Hall.
