CTE instructional workshops to address variety of issues
The Center for Teaching Effectiveness is offering workshops on teaching students with disabilities, using Gore Hall's technology facilities and addressing assessment issues during February and March.
- "Teaching Students with Disabilities" will be held from 10:30 a.m.-noon, Monday, Feb. 8, in Room 208 Gore Hall, with Judith Gibson and Sharon Anderson, affirmative action and multicultural programs. The workshop will include discussions about helping students with disabilities to learn, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, support services for students and faculty and other related topics.
- Gore Hall orientations will be held from noon-1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, and from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, in Room 208 Gore Hall. The workshops will offer orientation to classroom technology facilities for those teaching in Gore Hall for the first time. The hands-on sessions include classroom technology examples and features, how to set up a laptop computer and how to handle problems.
- An "Assessment Forum" will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday, March 1, in a location to be announced, with Donna Engelman and Zohreh Emami of Averno College. The faculty of Alverno College, which has developed and used various forms of assessment to measure student learning and measure accountability, will assist UD faculty in identifying and planning ways to address assessment issues at different levels within the University.
