Auditions set
Auditions for the Choral Union and the University Singers will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, in Room 118 Amy E. Du Pont Music Building. A sign-up sheet is posted on the door of Room 118. It is not necessary to prepare a song for these auditions.

Library hours
Morris Library and Agriculture Library Collection hours for the Winter Session exam and intersession period, Feb. 5-8, are 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5; 9 a.m-7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6; closed, Sunday, Feb. 7; and 8 a.m.-midnight, Monday, Feb. 8.

Tutor training
The New Start adult literacy program will offer tutor training workshops during the month of February at Red Lion United Methodist Church in Bear, Del.

The workshop series will be offered in the mornings from 9 a.m.-noon, and again during the evening from 6-9 p.m. on Feb. 11, 15, 18, 22 and 25.

Trained volunteers will receive a certificate and will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with adults who would like to upgrade basic skills.

Counseling help
Counseling services are now available for eligible dependents through the state of Delaware's expanded Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The Sheppard Pratt Health Plan will provide these EAP services for employees and dependents enrolled in the University's non-Medicare health plans.

Employees may continue to receive confidential, short-term counseling through the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, which helps employees deal with a variety of personal, work and family issues, including psychiatric issues, alcohol and drug abuse, grief management and handling stress and anxiety.

Employees also have the option of choosing short-term counseling through Sheppard Pratt Health Plan.

Spring intramurals
Registration for intramural sports for the beginning of the spring semester begins Monday, Feb. 8. The sports scheduled during this early session are basketball, outdoor soccer, walleyball, ice hockey, table tennis and racquetball.

Registration is scheduled from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, Feb. 8-12, in Room 102 Carpenter Sports Building.

Apply online
The electronic application for grants of up to $5,000 for instructional improvement projects is now available. The submission deadline is Feb. 15, and the system will automatically forward applications to support units, chairpersons and deans for their authorizations, and also to the CTE Faculty Review Committee for award recommendations.

Get involved
An informational session entitled "Getting Involved on Campus!" will be offered at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, in Multipurpose Room C, Trabant University Center. Students will be able to learn about organizations, campus events and other activities.

All students are welcome and refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by the New Student Orientation office.

Study in Germany
Scholarships are available for students interested in studying in Germany.

The competition is open to two undergraduates-preferably sophomores or juniors in good standing-in all majors. Candidates should have a working knowledge of German, as they will study in that language, and firm ideas of the courses they wish to pursue in a German university.

Each scholarship has a value of approximately DM 8,000 (about $4,166) paid in 10 monthly installments, which cover room and board, books and a portion of expected personal expenses. Tuition is free in Germany. Student recipients must pay transportation, admission fee, mandatory health insurance costs and personal expenses.

Hoerl award
The Delaware chapter of the American Statistical Association is conducting its fourth annual Arthur E. Hoerl Meritorious Student Paper award.

A cash prize will be awarded to a graduate student in the state of Delaware who submits the best paper on an interesting application of existing or new statistical methods or the development of a new method. Awards will be based on originality, thoroughness and quality of presentation.

Submissions should not exceed 15 pages, double spaced. Four copies must be received by the chairperson of the Hoerl Awards Committee, by 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 31.

Papers will be evaluated by the awards committee, and the winner will be notified by April 15.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware Inc. is seeking UD student volunteers to spend time with youngsters in the area. A number of children are on a waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister, and UD student and staff support and involvement would be appreciated.

CONTACT Delaware is seeking new volunteers for its three programs-"Crisis Helpline," "Rape Crisis" and "Reassurance." The training programs offer personal enrichment by teaching listening skills that will be useful beyond the volunteer setting.
