Skating classes for people at any stage of life and any aptitude will begin at UD this month. Instruction is offered in the Fred Rust Ice Arena, and classes in instructional ice hockey also are available.
Skating classes last for eight-weeks, with groups meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings.
All classes begin the week of Jan. 5.
The instructional hockey classes also last for eight weeks and meet on Saturday mornings, beginning Jan. 9.
The classes, under the direction of Josh Brandwene, head club hockey coach of the nationally ranked UD team, are known for their low student-to-teacher ratio and the individualized attention given to students.
Cost is $115 and includes jersey.

Staff members in one-act play fest
Mary Catherine, a play written by Richard Gaw, housing, will be performed as part of the One-Act Play Festival at 8:15 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23, at the Chapel Street Theatre in Newark.In addition to Gaw's play, three other short works will be presented. In 1998, Gaw's play, Farther, won the Chapel Street festival and was named best play at the state competition.
Mary Catherine, about two brothers coping with the loss of a family member, stars Scott F. Mason, University student centers. The Newark festival is coordinated by Christine Ward, a psychology graduate student.
