Under the reorganization, David G. Butler, director of housing, will manage a number of projects and assist with the transition of the organization.
In addition, Kreppel said, a significant portion of his time has been given to the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I), and he will continue to expand his leadership role in a much needed national residence hall benchmarking project. The position of director of housing will be eliminated in the fall of 1999.
Housing Assignment Services (HAS) will continue to be responsible for room assignments, room changes and housing agreements and will report directly to Kreppel, assistant vice president for administrative services.
The budget and marketing functions of the Office of Housing will become part of an expanded Office of Financial and Information Services, which currently manages the budget functions for Dining Services and the University Bookstore.
The Office of Conference Services will join the Office of Dining and Conference Services and be managed by ARAMARK Campus Services. This will enable the conference unit to take advantage of ARAMARK's expertise and resources in this line of business, as well as to streamline some duplication of effort between the catering and event management functions.
"These organizational changes," Kreppel said, "are being made to minimize duplication of effort and improve services to all members of the University community. In addition, this shift in personnel and responsibilities will improve the University's ability to inform a wider regional and national audience of the University's excellent services and facilities."
