Fall conference recognizes prof

The late Ralph E. Kleinman, a longtime member of the UD faculty, was honored by an international conference in applied mathematics dedicated to his memory, held in November at MBNA America Hall.

Of the 16 distinguished speakers, 10 were from abroad and six from the U.S., including Joseph B. Keller of Stanford University, a National Medal of Science recipient.

According to Ivar Stakgold, mathematical sciences emeritus, the presentations reflected Dr. Kleinman's interest in problems related to wave propagation arising in various physical contexts.
