CoSIDA honors student athletes

Chris Nocco, UD offensive tackle, was named to the first team and Steve Ricco was a second team selection on the GTE/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II football team.

A graduate student from Philadelphia, Nocco earned a degree in criminal justice in three years from UD and is enrolled in his second year of graduate study in public administration, with a 3.44 grade point average. He is the top backup on the Blue Hen offensive line, which ranks among the top 20 nationally in passing offense, scoring offense and total offense. Nocco is eligible for the national Academic All-American team to be announced this month.

Ricco, a junior from Plainview, N.Y., has a 3.41 grade point average and is a biology/pre-med major. He has played a key role for the Hens on special teams and as a backup fullback. He rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown and caught one pass for six yards and a touchdown this season. As one of Delaware's top coverage men on special teams, he has posted 11 tackles.
