I feel like I can fly-I feel so good I want to take off! Last year I weighed 230 pounds, and I'm under 5 feet tall. I visited my doctor every week. I had high blood pressure; I wasn't sleeping; and I was stressed. Then, last February, I decided I had to do something about myself on my own and began walking when the weather permitted. By April, I decided to start walking early every morning. In September, I also began exercising at the Employee Fitness Center, and Phyllis Whaler at the center devised a weight-lifting program for me.
"When I began walking and exercising, I also changed my eating habits. I always have read about health and nutrition so I knew what I should do, but I checked with Marianne Carter to get her advice and make sure I was doing the right thing. Now I don't even miss fatty foods; it's my mind set. I am a custodian in Rodney D and get exercise on the job, but I discovered you have to eat right and exercise or you won't lose a pound. I was on a plateau for a while but did not get discouraged because that happens.
"Now, I weigh 194 pounds and am aiming for 150 and getting my blood pressure and cholesterol down. I am going to see my doctor soon and is she ever in for a shock when she sees me!"
