Hall closings University residence halls will close at 10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, unless a student has final examination that evening.In such a case, the student must contact the hall director or assistant area coordinator of the building where he or she resides and request that an exception be made allowing him or her to remain in the residence hall until 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20.
Residence halls will reopen at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, for students enrolled in Winter Session.
Fight the flu The Employee Wellness Center is offering flu vaccinations from noon to 6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 29-30.The vaccines are being administered at the Student Health Center, and the fee is $10 cash or check.
To schedule an appointment, employees should call the Employee Wellness Center at 831-8388 and leave a message indicating name, phone number and most convenient date and time to take the vaccine.
Children's book fair The annual children's book fair will be held from 2-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10; from 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday, Nov. 11-13; and from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, in the Education Resource Center, 12 Willard Hall Education Building.Students, faculty, staff and community members will be able to browse hundreds of titles of new children's and young adults' books and purchase them at a 10 percent discount.
The prices of paperback books will range from $1.25-$7, less the discount, and there also will be hardcover books suitable for gift giving.
The fair is cosponsored by the College School and the Student Association.

HAZMAT training Training sessions on the new Hazardous Materials Shipment Policy 7-43 will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Nov. 13, and Friday, Nov. 21.Participants are asked to visit the Department of Occupational Health and Safety web site at (http://www.udel.edu/OHS/hazmatshipment.html) before the session to prepare questions to be asked during training.

Housing schedule All students currently residing on campus who will be away from Newark for the spring semester must cancel, in writing, their Academic Year Student Housing Agreement prior to Dec. 19 in order to avoid being billed $100 for late cancellation.Faculty who are sponsoring a studytrip or who are aware of any students who may be away from Newark are asked to encourage students to file cancellation forms as soon as possible.
Green Hens If you are a new or fairly new UD employee and would enjoy meeting other recent faculty and staff members in an informal way, then the Green Hens are for you.Organized by Karen Butler, art, and Rob Wildman, nutrition and dietetics, both new to the area and UD, the Green Hens meet once a month for a get-together and to plan a wide range of activities, including golf, bowling, get togehters and skiing.
Although the Green Hens are for newcomers on campus, all employees are welcome to attend.
The next meeting will be held from 5-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at the Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant on Main Street.

Exchange deadline The Tuition Exchange application deadline for new applicants is Oct. 27. Late applications will not be accepted.The lottery for staff and faculty (second child only) will be held at 12:15 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, at 51 East Main St., in the Employee Services Conference Room.

GCC's annual open house to feature tour, vendors, info Members of the campus community are invited to the Graphic Communication Center's seventh annual open house, scheduled from noon-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, in the General Services Building, 222 South Chapel St.Participants will learn about GCC's latest copying and printing capabilities.
A product show will be presented by Corporate Express, and several departments-including Campus Delivery, Facilities Administration, Mail Service, Purchasing and Supporting Services-will provide information.
