The Earth Guard

As a climax to a study unit on recycling, the Earth Guard (aka the kindergarten class of the UD Laboratory Preschool) collected recyclables, made signs and posters and paraded from their campus school to the recycling collection area behind Pearson Hall.

Not content with just marching, the guards called out to college students- "Read our signs. Don't litter; don't pollute!" According to teacher Nancy Edwards, individual and family studies, the message was loud and clear. College students who saw the procession, responded by saying "You're awesome!" and "I promise not to litter anymore!"

Standing with the Earth Guard are (back row, from left) student teachers Jaime Sobol (who organized the study unit and parade), Jennifer Gulli, Edwards and UD student Bria Mattern, who works with the school for class credit.
