Gala activities to mark '97 Homecoming at UD

A variety of events will mark Homecoming Weekend at UD, Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2, on the Newark campus.

In addition to the weekend's centerpiece-the Fightin' Blue Hens' football battle with the College of William and Mary on Saturday, Nov. 1-the weekend will include a carnival, pep rally, alumni reception, a run/walk, sports events and special exhibitions. A special dance concert with KC and the Sunshine Band and the Marvelettes is scheduled at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, in the Bob Carpenter Center.

Kicking off the weekend will be the Homecoming carnival and Pep Rally, scheduled from 2-5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, at Harrington Beach.

The event includes music, food and fun. Student organizations and Greek chapters will provide games, activities and other attractions. The UD Marching Band, the Precision Dance Team and the UD Cheerleading Squad will provide entertainment. UD Spirit Ambassadors and the T. Muncy Keith Spirit Award winners will be announced.

A special reception for UD alumni from reunion classes, sponsored by the Office of Alumni and University Relations and ARAMARK, will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in front of Old College. The reception will include live musical entertainment by the Royal Palm Steel Band, and refreshments will be available.

Advance reservations are suggested by sending e-mail to AlumNet@mvs.udel.edu
