CTE lists fall workshops on instruction and education
A number of workshops will be offered this fall by the Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE). These include:
- "Engaging Students in Larger Classes"-1:30-3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, Room 106, Center for Composite Materials, by facilitator Gabriele Bauer, CTE;
- "Strategic Teaching: The Possible Dream, the Enduring Process"-1:30-3:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, Room 208, Willard Hall Education Building, by facilitator Linc Fisch, author and teaching consultant, Lexington, Ky.;
- "An Inquiry into Ethics and Values in College Teaching: Problems, Issues, Guidelines and Principles"-1-3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, Room 106, Center for Composite Materials, by facilitator Fisch;
- "How to Become an OSCAR Winning Teacher"-12:30-3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, Studio A, 311 Pearson Hall, by facilitator Tony Grasha, University of Cincinnati;
- "Evaluating Teaching Performance: When Will We Ever Learn to Use What We Know"-12:30-3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, Studio A, 311 Pearson Hall, by facilitators Thomas Angelo, University of Miami, and Peter Seldin, Pace University; and
- "Evaluating Teaching: The Department Chairperson's Role"-1:30-3:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, Room 208, Willard Hall Education Building, by facilitators Judy Greene and Gabriele Bauer, CTE.
Book group
In addition, a "Book Discussion Group: Reflecting on Our Practice" series will provide faculty an opportunity to meet with authors of various books, available at the University Bookstore for $32.45.
