All services include the bus and driver. Charges are $15.40 per hour, plus $1.10 per mile (three-hour minimum; $46.20 minimum charge).
Operating hours include driving time and associated time for vehicle checkout, refueling and cleaning.
Highway tolls, parking fees and similar trip-related expenses can be paid by the group while on the trip or by the driver and charged to the group, but arrangements must be made in advance.
If the charter time is during the hours when a meal would normally be consumed or if it is an overnight charter, the driver's meal(s) and overnight accommodations shall be equivalent to and arranged by the group, or charged in accordance with the University Travel and Reimbursement Policy.
Requests for service are processed on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of the FAI Request for Service Form. Transportation service cannot be provided on a pay-as-you-go system.
All charges must be covered by an internal University account code, and service will not be provided without a written request.
Available vehicles include six University Transit buses that seat 48 passengers (three to a seat) or 36 passengers (two to a seat). There also are three University Transit buses that will carry 56 passengers (three to a seat) or 38 passengers (two to a seat).
Availability is dependent on University Transit commitments and prior charter requests. Requests must be received at least one week in advance of the trip.
However, it is recommended that Requests for Service be made as early as possible.
Cancellation is requested 24 hours in advance for weekday travel or by 4 p.m. Friday for weekend service. Cancellation can be made by phone between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, by calling 831-1187 and leaving a contact name and telephone number.
Cancellation with less than three hours' notice for weekday travel or after 4 p.m. on Friday for weekend service, will be charged the minimum rate.
