Members of the boards of Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in Germany, an international leader in the invention of industrial technology, and Fraunhofer USA were honored at a reception hosted by Provost Mel Schiavelli at the Blue and Gold Club on Monday, June 22, during a two-day meeting at the University.
At the reception (from left) are Hans Jürgen Warnecke, president, Fraunhofer Gesellchaft; Schiavelli; Delaware Gov. Thomas R. Carper; and Dirk-Meints Polter, senior vice president, Fraunhofer Gesellchaft. Legislators and representatives of local industry also were present. Fraunhofer USA operates centers throughout the United States and Canada.
In 1996, the Fraunhofer Center-Delaware was established as part of the state's Advanced Technology Center.
The organization is co-directed by Harald Eifert and Karl Steiner, executive director of UD's Center for Composite Materials.
