Faculty and staff will once again have the opportunity to contribute support to their University during the 1998-99 Employee Campaign.
Pledge cards and brochures featuring campus donors have been sent to employees across campus, and faculty and staff are encouraged to join their fellow workers in support of the University and its educational goals.
In the letter accompanying the brochure, Michael Pohlen, business administration, writes, "The 1998-99 Employee Campaign is a chance for each and every one of us to help shape the University's programs, to extend educational opportunities to talented young men and women, and to lay the groundwork for the future of an outstanding institution.... Our giving is a powerful example that others are sure to follow."
There are several options available. Contributions may be designated for the libraries, scholarships, academic units, athletics, for other specific programs or unrestricted use. Gifts may be regularly deducted from paychecks, or be made by check or credit card.
According to Joe Bradley, development, the UD employee giving program is strong, compared to other schools, with a good response rate of close to 20 percent. In 1997-98, a total of more than $500,000 was given by 640 employees, a significant increase since the solicitation program began in 1991, he said.
