The UD Tassel Chapter of the Mortar Board Honor Society, composed of seniors dedicated to the principles of scholarship, leadership and service, held its first annual Professor Recognition Dinner and Awards Ceremony May 17 in the President's Room of the Blue and Gold Club.

At the event, students acknowledged faculty and staff members who have most dramatically influenced them throughout their undergraduate experience.

Chapter President Theresa Brennan said she hoped the new tradition will continue for many years to come.

"This event was a wonderful culmination of our years at the University," Brennan said. "As we head towards graduation and look back, we are proud and honored to have met these professors and friends."

During the evening, 20 honored guests were recognized by their respective students. Mortar Board advisers Carolyn Manning, nutrition and dietetics, and John Kushman, consumer studies, were recognized for their dedication in service to the organization, and Yang-Ming Lo, animal and food sciences, was introduced as the Tassel Chapter's 1998-99 adviser. Special guests David and Louise Roselle attended the ceremony.
