The PRESENT is celebrating its first anniversary with a special afternoon program this week. The on-campus facility is a simulated classroom environment where faculty and other teaching staff can learn to identify educational applications and gain information on how to use these technologies effectively.
Members of the University community are invited to visit the site from noon-4 p.m., Friday, May 15, in Room 002A Smith Hall and see exemplary work from other faculty, learn new tips, shortcuts and technologies and enjoy refreshments and share ideas.

Students schedule fashion benefit
The fifth annual Synergy Fashion Show, "Elements," organized and conducted primarily by merchandising and apparel students, will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 16, in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center.Tickets, available at the door, are $4 for students and $6 for the general public. Proceeds will benefit the Nina Hyde Foundation for breast cancer awareness and research. For more information, call 266-6973.
Guest pianist to accompany sister
Soprano Marie Robinson and pianist Julie Nishimura will present a free, public recital at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 16, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building. Pianist Agnes Hadley Adams, Robinson's sister, will perform as a guest artist.Adams will accompany her sister in a set of spirituals and also will perform works for solo piano by Chopin, Beethoven and Gershwin.
Accompanied by Nishimura, Robinson will sing the Kinder totenlieder of Mahler, arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni and Eleven Songs for Voice and Piano by Robert Hogenson, a member of the UD music faculty.
Hogenson's works have been performed by such ensembles as the Delaware Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Brass and Milwaukee Symphony.
Old College hosts fine arts exhibit
A Master of Fine Arts Exhibition will be on display from May 15-31 in the University Gallery on the second floor of Old College. Featured are the paintings of Jill Berry and John McClafferty, printmaking of Walter Smith and sculpture of Kurt Wulfmeyer.An opening reception will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m., Friday, May 15, in the University Gallery.

Novelist/artist to speak on campus
Peter Landesman, a novelist, journalist and painter, will read from his works at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, in Room 103 Gore. The event is free and open to the public.Landesman will read from his book, The Raven, about a maritime tragedy in Maine, which won the 1996 American Association of Arts and Letters Best First Fiction Award.
The author received a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a master of fine arts degree from Cornell University. His second novel, Blood Acre, is currently being considered for publication.
During the evening, Landesman also will present the writing awards for student works published in the 1998 edition of Caesura, the UD literary magazine.
Dolphin-watching Lewes trip June 20
The Trabant University Center's first Dolphin-Watching Trip will take place on Saturday, June 20, with departure for sea from the Fisherman's Wharf in Lewes.The bus leaves the Trabant University Center at 6:30 a.m. and leaves Lewes for its return to UD at 3 p.m. Cost is $16 for full-time undergraduates with UD ID. Cost is $18 for others with UD ID. Guests are permitted, if accompanied by a member of the University community.
Tickets are on sale from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, through noon, Friday, June 19, in Room 217 Trabant University Center.
