Recipients of the University's Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Advising awards were recognized during ceremonies on Honors Day, May 8.
Faculty honored for outstanding teaching include Dewey Caron, entomology and applied ecology; Bethany Hall-Long, health and nursing sciences; Ivo Dominguez, foreign languages and literatures; and Ajay Prasad, mechanical engineering.
In recognition of outstanding teaching, and recommended by written evaluations from students, each honored faculty member received a $2,500 award from funds made available by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation and the University of Delaware Alumni Association.
Honored for excellence in advising were Kenneth Ackerman, anthropology; Sue Davis, political science and international relations; and Kathleen Duke, University Honors Program.
These $2,500 awards are given to emphasize the importance of academic advising, which the University considers a valued part of each student's educational experience.
UpDate will spotlight these outstanding faculty members in issues during the 1998-99 academic year.
Also recognized for outstanding teaching were graduate students Jeffrey Molloy and Brian Wagner, both chemistry and biochemistry; and Steven Wrenn, chemical engineering.
On the basis of letters of support from students, each outstanding graduate student received $1,000 from funds made available by the University of Delaware Alumni Association.
