Library to hold open house for faculty Sept. 24

University faculty, especially those new to campus, are invited to attend the library open house at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Morris Library Class of 1941 Lecture Room.

As more library collections and services become available via the Internet, it has become increasingly important for the library to provide information and instruction about its wide range of electronic resources and services.

The open house will include an introduction to the library web page and its organization.

The site-accessible at http://www.lib.udel.edu-serves as a gateway research tool that provides access to electronic resources on the World Wide Web, including more than locally mounted web information. The library page is also accessible via the University of Delaware web page.

At the Sept. 24 event, there also will be demonstrations of the Library Networked Databases, including the recent feature of Current Contents/TOC and electronic ordering of journal articles; subject access to resources; library electronic services and forms, including electronic reserve and media scheduling; and the opportunity to meet the librarians who are the subject selectors for both traditional and electronic library resources.

After remarks and presentations, tours of the Morris Library, designed specifically for faculty, will be offered and light refreshments will be available. Interested academic professional staff members also are welcome to attend.

If you plan to attend, please call 831-2231 or send information via e-mail to julia.hamm@mvs.udel.edu

Acceptances are strongly encouraged so subject librarians can be notified in advance of planned attendees.
